Overview
Skillmeet is a discovery and reputation platform for skilled people and local businesses — ranked by real local communities, not paid placements. As a pro, you get a public Skill Profile that customers can find via search, save, upvote, message, and book directly.
This guide covers every step of setup and every feature available to pros. It should take about 10 minutes to go from signup to a live, publishable profile.
1. Create your account
Head to Join Skillmeet and sign up with your email and a password. During signup you'll pick "I offer a service" as your account type, which routes you to the pro onboarding flow.
2. Build your profile
The onboarding form collects everything needed for your Skill Profile:
- Business/display name — how you appear in search.
- Tagline & description — the pitch customers see first.
- Location — city + service radius so you appear in local results.
- Category & specialties — pick the specific services you offer. Your subcategories are derived automatically from the specialties you select.
- Cover image & avatar — visual identity for your card and profile page.
- Contact & trust info — phone, website, licensed/insured badges.
Your profile is created as unpublished at first. You'll be routed straight to the dashboard paywall to choose a plan before it goes live.
3. Choose a plan
Skillmeet has two annual plans — both required to publish a profile:
Basic
$99.99 / year
- 1 specialty
- Profile + messaging
- Bookings & analytics
Pro
Popular$199.99 / year
- Up to 10 specialties
- Post offers & promotions
- Menu of services
- Pro badge + search highlight
Payment is handled securely via Stripe. Once your subscription is active, the paywall disappears and your profile becomes publishable.
4. Polish your profile
From your dashboard, edit any part of your public profile at any time. Add a gallery, refine your description, add certifications, and toggle Published when you're ready to appear in search.
5. Post offers (Pro)
Offers are limited-time promotions that appear on your profile, in the /offers feed, and in category search results.
- Set a title, description, and optional expiry date.
- Visitors can save offers, which sends them to your audience list.
- Message everyone who saved an offer directly from the dashboard.
7. Manage bookings
Visitors can request bookings against your listed services. Requests land in the Bookings tab on your dashboard with a badge showing how many are pending confirmation.
- Review each request → Confirm or Decline.
- Default availability is Mon–Fri; customize hours per weekday.
- Confirmed bookings appear on both your dashboard and the customer's account.
8. Messaging
Every profile has a Message button. Conversations appear in your Inbox. You can also message customers who have saved one of your offers.
9. Analytics & growth
Your dashboard shows the signals that drive growth on Skillmeet:
- Profile views — how many people landed on your page
- Upvotes — community endorsements that boost search ranking
- Saves — offers and profiles added to visitor accounts
- Offer performance — saves per offer, message conversions
Ranking is driven by upvote count — the more real endorsements, the higher you appear.
11. Trust & safety
- Add Licensed and Insured badges to your profile.
- Verified email is required to publish.
- Users can flag suspicious profiles or offers — the team reviews every report.
- You can pause your account or cancel your membership any time from the Account page — everything you posted is hidden until you resubscribe.
